In my research I use photography as a sketch book. Travelling to outback / heavily mined areas in Scandinavia and Australia I have documented extraction ore, slimeslurries and open pit mines, both used and disused for over 6 years.
The three digital collages to the right are all these images. The first one in earthy yellow tones are built from one digital macro shoot of the resideue from Mt Lyle mine in Western Tasmania (2015). This was first produced and printed on fabric for a panel at Momentum Biennial (2017). It has been acquired at Västerås Konstmuseum in Sweden as a print on Hanhemüle paper in a series of 7 prints (August 2020).
The two digital collages in blue/rust and green/maroon are based on one image taken in Kalgoorlie and the SuperPit (2016, earths largest open Goldmine). The blue one also have an overlay with an image of a Goanna Lizard, photographed in the wild Eastern Goldfields, Australia (2017) for an exhibition at Art Gallery Western Australia (2018/19).
Below are a series of prints built from my research photography, some as commissions (The Mountain. Three Moons and Black Rotation/ Södersjukhuset, Stockholm, 2017).
Sunrise, Moonrise, Spacedweller are digital collages and proposals for performances.
These have all been acquired to Västerås Konstmuseum Public Art collection (Aug 2020)
I have also sold these as part of the #artistsupportpledge each at an edition of 12 on Hanhemüle photorag 280gsm.
